It is extremely important that you fill out the bright colored Client information sheet that your received with your Public Defender Information envelope and return it to our office. We have to know how to contact you about your case. We are also required to gather some information to determine if you qualify for a Public Defender. We do share that financial information with the Court. The back side of the colored sheet is information which is not shared with the Court or the State’s Attorney and is only shared with your attorney.
We will not talk to your family members or other individuals about your case unless you give us written permission to do so. There is a place on the colored sheet to write the names of those individuals you wish for us to share information with. Keep in mind, just because we have permission to speak with your designee, it does not mean we are required to do so, however, we will try to accommodate them.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT US BEFORE YOUR COURT DATE. WE DO NOT CALL EVERY CLIENT BEFORE THEIR COURT DATE. THAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR.
