Macoupin County Clerk Launches “Election University” Video Series to Increase Transparency and Public Understanding

Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan is launching a new public education initiative designed to help residents better understand how elections are conducted in Macoupin County.

The new video series, called “Macoupin County Election University,” will feature short informational videos explaining the election process from start to finish. The videos will be posted on the Macoupin County Clerk’s website as well as the office’s social media platforms.

Each episode will focus on a specific part of the election process, including voter registration, how candidates get on the ballot, what happens at polling places, how votes are counted, and how election results are verified.
The goal of the series is to provide transparency and help voters understand the many procedures and safeguards involved in administering elections.

“Most voters only see elections on Election Day, but there are months of preparation that happen behind the scenes before a single ballot is cast,” said Clerk Duncan. “Election University is designed to give the public a closer look at how elections work in Macoupin County and help answer some of the most common questions we receive.”

The series will include short 5–10 minute videos that are easy for residents to watch and share. Future episodes will also highlight the role of poll workers, voting equipment testing, vote-by-mail procedures, and post-election audits.
“Our goal is to make election information accessible and easy to understand,” Duncan said. “When people understand the process, it builds confidence in the system and encourages greater civic participation.”

The first episode, “Welcome to Macoupin County Election University,” introduces the series and provides an overview of how elections are administered locally.

Residents will be able to watch the videos on the Macoupin County Clerk’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, with new episodes released periodically. The videos will also be posted at MacoupinVotes.gov
